NORTH CAROLINA - Nantahala and Pisgah NFs Announce Forest Plan Revision Meetings

The Nantahala and Pisgah National Forests has announced that the second round of Forest Plan Revision assessment information sessions will be held on the last two Thursdays of May. The objective of these sessions will be to present more in-depth information on a selection of topic areas related to the existing condition of the forests, and share opinions and ideas on these topics. The format will be a series of presentations from Forest Service personnel for the first half of the meeting, followed by discussion sessions on those topics during the second half.

COLORADO- BLM Releases Draft Mgmt Plan Dominguez-Escalante National Conservation Area

The Bureau of Land Management has announce the beginning of the 90-day public comment period on the Draft Resource Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement (DRMP/EIS) for the Dominguez-Escalante National Conservation Area and the Dominguez Canyon Wilderness. The plan will provide a framework to guide subsequent management decisions on approximately 210,000 acres administered by the BLM in Delta, Mesa and Montrose counties of western Colorado.

Yesterday the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources postponed efforts to advance S. 486, Preserving Access to Cape Hatteras Beaches Act until the committee's June mark-up. This bill would overturn a National Park Service plan to limit motorized vehicle use at a North Carolina seashore. We've pasted Senator Burr of North Carolina's media release below. FWP looking for information on antelope slaughter

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks game wardens are looking for information about an incident about a month ago when as many as 30 antelope were killed illegally southeast of Billings. The state’s TIP-MONT program is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to a conviction in the case.
