The Nantahala and Pisgah National Forests has announced that the second round of Forest Plan Revision assessment information sessions will be held on the last two Thursdays of May. The objective of these sessions will be to present more in-depth information on a selection of topic areas related to the existing condition of the forests, and share opinions and ideas on these topics. The Bureau of Land Management has announce the beginning of the 90-day public comment period on the Draft Resource Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement (DRMP/EIS) for the Dominguez-Escalante National Conservation Area and the Dominguez Canyon Wilderness. Yesterday the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources postponed efforts to advance S. 486, Preserving Access to Cape Hatteras Beaches Act until the committee's June mark-up.
