The Tahoe National Forest will host two public open houses in October to discuss the forest roads system and look at the relationship between roads and various resource impacts. The open houses are part of engaging the public in Subpart A of the U.S. Forest Service's 2005 Travel Management Rule. Subpart A is an analysis of the forest's road system. I attended the BLM 2.0 Listening Session in Sacramento yesterday on behalf of the BlueRibbon Coalition. As many of you know, this is part of the BLM's ongoing effort to improve the management of the nation's public lands by working more efficiently with the public and partners. The Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest is seeking public comment on the draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement ("draft SEIS") for the Ogden Ranger District Travel Plan Revision Project. The National Forests in North Carolina has announced the schedule for the next round of meetings held as part of the Nantahala and Pisgah National Forests management plan revision. Members of the public are encouraged to attend. BOISE, ID (October 6, 2014)--A newly-filed settlement agreement would withdraw restrictions on motorized and mechanized access to "Recommended Wilderness" Areas (RWA) in Idaho's Clearwater National Forest. Just a quick reminder for all you snowmobilers: the public lottery for the Non-commercially Guided Snowmobile Access Program for Yellowstone National Park ends this Friday, October 3, 2014. On September 3, 2014, the National Park Service (NPS) announced a public lottery to determine the trip dates for Non-Commercially Guide Leaders wanting to visit Yellowstone this coming winter season (2014-2015). The Forest Service has extended the scoping comment period for an additional 60 days on the Forest Plan Revision for the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. Information gathered during this scoping period, as well as other information, will be used to prepare the draft plan and the draft EIS. Comments must be received by November 14, 2014.
