National Legislative Update-Good News on Clear Creek

The BlueRibbon Coalition/Sharetrails.org (BRC) wants to thank all members of the OHV community who have worked hard over the last 5 years to help create a legislative proposal (H.R. 1838) to reopen the BLM's Clear Creek Recreation Area near Hollister, California. According to an announcement from the House Committee on Natural Resources, H.R. 1838 (the bill to reopen Clear Creek to OHV use) will get a markup on March 16, 2016.

CALIFORNIA - Forest Service to Host Open House on Winter Travel Management Planning

The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU) will soon begin the planning process to designate National Forest System areas for over-the-snow vehicle (OSV) use in the Lake Tahoe Basin. This process will update the current LTBMU Snowmobile Guide and take a comprehensive look at access, parking, and motorized and non-motorized winter recreation opportunities. UTAH - BLM Price Announces Next Recreation Planning Meeting

OREGON - Ochoco National Forest Seeks Input on Draft OHV plan

The Ochoco National Forest is seeking public input on the draft plan for a proposed 130-mile Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) trail system, known as the Ochoco Summit Trail System Project. The trail system is intended to provide OHV users a well-designed, sustainable place to ride in the Ochocos in order to prevent unregulated, and sometimes damaging, off-road use from occurring in other parts of the forest.

IDAHO - Caribou-Targhee NF Publishes NOI to Prepare EIS for Winschell Dugway Motorized Trail Project

The Forest Service intends to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement to analyze and disclose the environmental effects of constructing a motorized trail from Morgan Meadows to Caribou City on the Soda Springs Ranger District of the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. The purpose for this project is to respond to outside public interest to provide a motorized trail opportunity from Morgan Meadows to Caribou City allowing forest visitors to experience the mining history of the area.
